    Hiring for:
    ~ Senior QA/QC Technician on afternoon shift Monday through Friday.

    Zavida Coffee Company is headquartered in Concord, ON.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Senior QA/QC Technician works within the Quality Control Lab to assist with procedural tasks and projects as required, as well as supporting the implementation of the food safety/quality program.

    The Senior QA/QC Technician may supervise and coordinate the work of other QC technicians.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
    Ensure compliance to product specifications using numerous lab analytical methods.
    Calibrate and maintain QC lab equipment, support the lab in basic troubleshooting on equipment as needed.
    Roast green coffee samples using sample roaster.
    Taste coffee samples from Flavour Room, Roasters and Sample Roaster.
    Verify production records and release finished goods; review data to ensure accuracy and completeness.

    Conduct periodic quality checks on the production lines and approve production runs; Collect, test, label and retain production samples.

    Perform routine quality verification to ensure production staff is following the manufacturing processes and procedures.

    Work closely with team leads/supervisors when nonconformance is identified, to conduct root cause analysis and hold products as per standard procedures.

    Lead investigations for nonconforming issues and/or customer complaints; liaise with operations team for implementing CAPA.
    Provides technical guidance, coordination, and training to other QC technicians and/or production staff.
    Perform scheduled quality control testing as per all relevant work instructions.
    Complete assigned routine tasks as per the food safety/quality program
    Observe all GMPs and GLPs, implement corrective actions when non-conformance is identified.
    Active participant on Food Defense Team as well as Health and Safety Team.
    Ensure all QC and HACCP documentation is completed as per Company standards and operating procedures.
    Responsible for Documentation Updates (procedures, work instructions, quality specification documents)
    Identify opportunities for improvement to efficiency and reliability for analysis, procedures, and workflows.
    Help train new staff.
    Assist with other projects deemed necessary by the Director of Quality.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    ~ Completion of post-secondary degree/diploma in the Science field.
    ~3 years' experience in a QC/QA environment, within the food manufacturing industry.
    ~ Experience with coffee manufacturing/roasting/sensory is an asset.
    ~ Work under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment
    ~ May supervise the work of others
    ~ Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
    ~ Able to handle multiple deadlines.
    ~ Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
    ~ Ability to work well within a team and independently.


    WORKING CONDITIONS
    Standing and walking frequently for long periods, including lifting up to 40 lbs.
    Exposure to production areas; must be able to tolerate warm/cold plant environment.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
    ~ No direct reports.
