About the role:


You will contribute by:


  • Working closely with the News Producer to write and produce content for newscasts.
  • Monitoring scanners and phone calls for breaking news.
  • Supporting newsroom staff (reporters, anchors, producers, etc.)
  • Backfilling production shifts as needed.
  • Performing other duties as required.

Skills and experience you will bring:

  • Post-secondary education in broadcast journalism or a related field.
  • Previous experience writing and producing news content for broadcast television or online is required.
  • Excellent news writing and storytelling skills.
  • Familiarity or experience with newscast lineups, video editing, content production and social media.
  • Ability to make quick decisions under pressure while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Control room experience is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
  • Recognized ability to both lead a team and work in collaboration with team members.
  • Willingness to learn, ability to adapt quicky, and be flexible and resourceful
  • A familiarity with Global News, both onair and online.
  • Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflows.
