    JOB OVERVIEW
  • Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and resultsdriven professional to join our team in the role of
    General Tradesperson.
  • Reporting to the Trades Management Supervisor, this position is primarily responsible for performing basic trades operations, janitorial and custodial work.
  • This is an exciting opportunity to work in an environment where you will contribute to OPG's public outreach, engagement, and education efforts as part of the company's commitment to growing its social license.
    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Carry out housekeeping and janitorial tasks.
  • Assist in performing routine tasks involving, erecting, dismantling, reassembling, moving, loading and unloading, and servicing, materials, structures, furniture, buildings, hardware, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Maintain and repair roads, drainage systems, including snowremoval and ground maintenance.
  • Operate any vehicle or combination of vehicle and trailer up to the level trained.
  • Operates portable, hand
- and power-driven tools and equipment.

  • Responsibilities are consistent with training and experience for performing basic trades operations.
  • In accordance with prescribed safety procedures and regulations, performs routine service trades duties. Accountable for the health, safety and well being of self and others, in accordance with procedures and standards.

  • Perform work protection code (WPC) activities up to the level trained.

EDUCATION

  • Grade 10, or equivalent

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of general maintenance, janitorial or custodial experience, ideally in an industrial environment
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Familiarity with working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (ability to lift up to 50lbs)
  • Must have a valid G license
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to work alone or as a collaborative team player
  • Good judgment and problemsolving skills
  • Positive, professional and enthusiastic demeanor
