Summary:


Within the context of a client and family centred model of care and, in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Providence Health Care, the person promotes a safe, respectful, and civil working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff.


Reporting to the Corporate Director, Clinical Supplies & Equipment, the Manager, Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) is accountable for the effective and efficient functioning of the Medical Device Reprocessing Program within Providence Health Care.

The Manager provides leadership and strategic direction to ensure high quality and effective delivery of medical device reprocessing services needed to support program/service delivery and plans within an academic, research and client centred environment.

The Manager is the primary administration link with respect to operations management, utilization and risk management, quality improvement, and human resource management for medical device reprocessing.

In addition to leading a team, works as a team player with colleagues and co-workers and in collaboration with key internal and external partners to achieve excellence in client and family centred care, education and research within a complex multi-site environment.


Qualifications / Skills and Education:


QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in a related Health Profession plus a minimum of five (5) years recent, related medical device reprocessing or perioperative experience in progressive leadership roles, including direct supervisory experience within a large unionized health care environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current registration/membership with a recognized professional association is desired.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Leads the development and implementation of innovative and creative approaches for delivery of high quality, value added and efficient medical device reprocessing (MDR) services, to support long term strategies and effectively address customer needs and expectations. Participates in periodic planning sessions, discussing service levels, ensuring supplies provided by MDR are in the appropriate quantities, conceptualizing and providing expert advice for future developments, participating in annual systems planning to outline priorities and change requirements and through maintaining an awareness of current MDR related trends and issues such as literature review, contact with peers at other organizations, attendance at seminars, workshops and educational programs.
