Career Opportunity:


  • The incumbent is responsible for the direct supervision of work performed under the asbestos abatement program (which also includes the abatement of mould and lead contaminated materials) set by the Commission in accordance with Ontario Government regulations.

What You Will Do:


  • Reporting to the Supervisor, as a Foreperson you will direct and supervise the work performed under the asbestos abatement program (including mould and lead contaminated materials) and liaise with external agencies and internal departments to coordinate work activities. This includes ensuring the adherence to the OHSA, as well as the safety of employees with respect to the proper care and use of safety equipment, protective clothing, respiratory protection, tools and equipment and ensuring that workers are properly trained and instructed in accordance with government regulations. You will also be investigating various injuries, accidents, incidents or other problems which may arise, and initiating corrective action as required and ensuring various reporting is completed including the Asbestos Work Report for each employee.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?:


  • Your educational background graduating from a technical school or equivalent combined with related work experience is integral and will contribute to the success in the role.
  • You must possess a valid, nonprobationary Province of Ontario Class G driving license and may be required to use own automobile when inspecting job sites.
  • Ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints.
  • Sound judgement, good organizational, problem solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to direct, motivate and coordinate the efforts of a unionized workforce.
