Looking for a new and exciting job opportunity? We are looking for an Energy Management Lead to join our team


What You Will Do

  • You will report to the Manager of Sustainability Strategy, and you will be responsible to spearhead the development of strategic building energy conservation solutions to support the achievement of net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2040, including the establishment of an energy conservation and demand management program for existing buildings with the objective of decreasing energy consumption in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • You will develop an Energy Conservation and Demand Management (ECDM) Plan aligned with ISO 50001, outlining key strategic technical, behavioral, organizational energy conservation actions, defining short and longterm energy intensity targets for existing buildings.
  • You will implement an Energy Metering Strategy to increase real time monitoring capabilities and propose a strategy to effectively utilize the resulting data to realize energy savings.
  • You will propose a systemic process to periodically evaluate the energy performance of allelectric existing buildings.
  • You will also ensure the TTC has strategies and plans to establish and maintain best practices in energy utility reduction.
  • You will report portfoliowide energy performance and progress towards targets quarterly.
  • You will process energy utility data for weather normalization and regression analysis.
  • You will work closely with operating personnel to identify and prioritize buildings requiring energy audits and ensure implementation of energy conservation measures.
  • You will oversee field energy surveys of existing buildings to collect detailed information, including development of mechanical and electrical equipment inventories, and standard operating procedures to support consultant led ASHRAE Level I and II assessments.
  • You will make recommendations for inclusion of energy conservation and fuel switching measures, including adjustments to engineering designs, construction, and/or operations, and tracking actions to closure.
  • You will report on the progress of building specific energy savings activities through Measurement and Verification protocols.
  • You will work closely with the Sustainability team to ensure integration with related initiatives such as corporate reporting, and greenhouse gas emissions quantification.
  • You will liaise with other departments (such as Infrastructure and Operations, Corporate Finance) to effect recommended changes to achieve established goals and coordinates projects in collaboration with other project managers.

What Qualifications Do You Bring

  • Your education will consist of a completed University Degree or College Diploma in mechanical, electrical engineering, building systems, applied science, engineering or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • You must be a Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
  • Additionally, a Professional accreditation, for example, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP) and/or Certified RETScreen Expert (CRE) is an asset.
  • You must have experience developing conservation and demand management plans as well as supporting the development of energy policies and standards.
  • You must also have experience conducting energy audits, functional testing, retro commissioning, reviewing meter trending data, and developing ongoing commissioning plans.
  • You must have experience with reviewing technical design specifications and drawings, providing recommendations to improve energy efficiencies, and incorporate low carbon alternatives.
