Terms of Employment:
Full Time, Contract. The duration of this contract will be March 2023 until November 2023 to cover a Maternity Leave. It can be extended based on business requirements.

Work Location:
The manufacturing plant is located at 41 Simpson Road, Bolton, Ontario, L7E 2R6


Role Purpose:


The HR Specialist will support the HR purpose of "unlocking the potential of talented associates" by executing the HR essentials to enable business strategy execution and enhance people capabilities.

The incumbent will work across all of the HR functions and partner with leaders to facilitate HR programs primarily in the areas of Recruitment, Onboarding, Employee Relations, and HR Systems.


Reporting Relationships:


The HR Specialist initially reports directly to the Human Resources Business Partner - Manufacturing, with a dotted line reporting structure to the Director - Manufacturing of the Bolton plant.


Key Accountabilities:


Employee Relations:
Liaising between employees and management. Assisting with day-to-day employee complaints and concerns, with the support of the MFG PCBP.

Responding to people-related inquiries both from within the People & Culture team and plant, directing employees and managers to existing resources, leveraging human resources knowledge to respond to inquiries, and escalating complex issues as required.

Supports the plant on policies and legislative requirements.

HR Systems:

Maintain HR Systems, which includes administration of records, training members on system use, creating, analyzing, and interpreting reports, and working with HR Business Partners to communicate system-related information to the broader teams.


Culture & Engagement:

Work alongside the Bolton MFG plant and support the PCBPs with engagement initiatives, including providing data survey results and helping support the development of action plans for business leaders.


Project & Key Initiatives:
Support the delivery of key People & Culture projects and initiatives, as assigned.

HR Reporting & Analytics:
Create, analyze, and interpret the monthly HR Scorecard to provide key analytics and information to support business objectives. Prepare ad hoc reports as requested.


Professional Experience and Qualifications:

The education and background experiences desired for this position include

  • A minimum of 23 years' experience in Human Resources, with previous involvement in Recruitment, Employment Relations, HR Systems, Reporting, and Analytics.
  • Working knowledge of relevant Federal and Provincial regulations and laws related to people policies and practices.
  • Experience working with hourly employees in manufacturing and operations environments, across multiple locations is an asset.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, human resources management, psychology, or sociology.
  • A proven ability to develop and maintain multiple stakeholder relationships across multiple business units.
  • A proven ability to research best practices, develop new processes and effectively implement them.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment.
  • Politically and culturally sensitive, with a high degree of conscientiousness and proven ability to manage sensitive or confidential information.
  • Strong time management skills, able to prioritize a busy workload, multitask, and execute on timesensitive deadlines.
  • Solutions focused.
  • Selfstarter, keen to roll your sleeves up and take a proactive approach to key issues.
  • A friendly, approachable, and helpful working style, tailoring your communication style to the different stakeholders you are supporting.
  • Strong communication, organizational, evaluation, and negotiation skills combined along with high attention to detail required to be successful.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Applicant Tracking Software, PowerPoint, HRIS enterprise platform (ADP), etc.
  • Selfstarter with the ability to resolve routine issues and problems; can work "in the grey", with a "Cando" attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail in all areas of work.
