Job Description - Product Manager:

Our Mission

Local Logic is digitizing the built world to make it universally understandable and actionable for consumers, investors, developers, and governments with the ambition of helping build cities that are more sustainable and equitable for the people that live in them.

To achieve that dream, we've built a digital twin of cities, quantifying the built world using data and AI to interpret the $217T real estate market throughout the US and Canada.

We started our journey at McGill University's urban planning department, where we came to see that cities were being developed in all kinds of unsustainable ways.

Why were sprawling suburbs still being built, when doing so would increase pollution and inequality? Why were new business parks being built far from mass transit, when doing so would make traffic congestion skyrocket? Why was social housing being built in places that would exacerbate social problems rather than improve them?

It became clear to us why: cities are incredibly difficult to understand.

But we realized that with recent advances in data science, all the complexity of cities could be made simple enough for anyone to understand.

And that understanding would be essential to making the sustainable, equitable, and prosperous cities that we so desperately need.

Today, Local Logic delivers sophisticated location insights through webtools, APIs, one-click reports and a data analytics platform.

Our insights are powered by billions of data points we've generated that describe all aspects of cities - from the distance to the nearest bus stop, the quietness on a street, to the most recent trends in the housing market and more.

Your Mission

As a Product Manager at Local Logic, you will be responsible for identifying and communicating the problems, needs, and wants of our users and customers.

You will identify the biggest uncertainties to de-risk and work closely within cross-functional teams to test and experiment to learn quickly and find the right solutions.

Once the team aligns on solutions, you'll have to give the sandbox in which the ideal solution should reside and be an enabler of team members to build it.

You believe in our mission and want to help us achieve it.

You have a strong understanding of data and analytics; internally, you are able to use both quantitative and qualitative data to justify and communicate why decisions make sense, and externally, you understand how data and data visualizations impact our user experience within our product.

You're able to speak up when you disagree, ask questions when you don't understand, provide feedback to others, and take ownership of your work.

You're hungry to learn and grow into a role where you will take progressively more strategic decisions.

We're a remote-enabled company, so if you want to work remotely once a week, twice a week, or five days a week, you'll have all the necessary tools and support you need to do so.

As a Product Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Identify the most important problems and opportunities for our products;
  • Create hypotheses, uncertainties, and knowns and unknowns around those;
  • Convert them into experiments, tests, and tactics;
  • Build a roadmap that considers other company priorities and available resources;
  • Communicate clearly and constantly throughout the company the plan, its importance, and the plan to achieve it;
  • Work in a crossfunctional team to execute on tests, build new features, and align on the best solutions;
  • Own the whys behind products and the business outcomes we want to achieve;
  • Leveraging your storytelling and leadership skills to inspire our team and build a shared feeling of ownership over the products we're building.

Key requirements:

  • 5 years of experience within the product career path;
  • Significant experience in building datarich or AIenabled products;
  • Expert at bringing clarity to a loosely defined problem or opportunity statement, by defining goals, identifying risks, proposing next steps, all while working in a multidisciplinary team of experts in their own fields.
  • Ability to coordinate activities for research, design, development, and GTM necessary in the endtoend product life cycle;
  • Strong communication skills that adapt to the situation and the audience, as well as the ability to manage the expectations of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to immerse yourself in an unfamiliar industry, understand user pain points, and think critically about how to solve their problems;

Nice to have

  • Experience working in the commercial real estate or proptech industries;
  • Background in GIS/mapping, urban planning, environment, or geography;
  • Background in computer science, with good understanding software and data science development life cycle and best practices.
