The Opportunity:

The Admitting Clerk performs a variety of reception and clerical duties required for the efficient operation of the unit.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

data entry (in-patient and outpatient registration, admission, discharge, transfer and pre-registrations); required transport functions, in accordance with unit and IWK Health policies; ordering and maintaining supplies; specific auditing functions; Point Pleasant Lodge reservations; arranging for shift coverage.


Hours of Work:

Week 1- Thu/Fri

Week 2- Monday , Wed/Thu/Fri/sat It is a 24/7 Unit, Shift hours can change.


Your Qualifications:


  • Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Completion of a recognized office administration program an asset.
  • Previous experience in a similar role preferred.
  • Emergency experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical, time management, interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Flexibility to work additional shifts preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology an asset.
  • Competency in other languages an asset.

This is a Admin Professionals bargaining unit position. Preference is given to bargaining unit employees for unionized positions.
