The Opportunity:


Reporting to the Manager, Inpatient and Ambulatory Medical Care, under the supervision of the Clinical Leader, the Unit Aide works within a team to provide a safe, clean environment for all patients and their families being served by the PMU Inpatient Unit.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Cleaning and disinfecting in accordance with Infection Control guidelines
  • Ensuring patient rooms are clean and tidy
  • Maintaining supplies and equipment required for the unit
  • Transporting defective equipment to Biomedical Engineering
  • Assisting with escort and transporting of patients.
  • Assisting Ward Clerks in delivering requisitions, specimens, x rays, etc.

Hours of Work:

Monday - Friday; 10:00 - 18:00


Your Qualifications:


  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous Unit Aide experience preferred.
  • Good communication skills required.
  • Commitment to Family Centred Care is required.
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize work effectively.
  • Knowledge of IWK Health fire response regulations is required.
  • Competency in other languages is considered an asset.
