Payroll Specialist - Mississauga, Canada - Gate Gourmet

Position is responsible for preparing and processing payroll for weekly and semi-monthly pay cycles. This includes both union and salaried payroll across Canada for nine (9) units.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complete full pay cycle for 9 units 2,300+ employees
- Process and distribute payroll in a timely manner.
- Process manual and miscellaneous checks.
- Maintain payroll records, process properly approved payroll record changes.
- Answer and/or research payroll inquiries from employees and managers.
- Analyze and process payroll garnishments.
- Perform payroll reconciliations.
- Daily data entry of payroll information.
- Ad hoc projects as assigned.
- Process Records of Employment
- Run Monthly Union reports and request payments
- Understand and support 9 separate collective agreements
Education:
- High School Diploma
- Associates Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred.
Work Experience:
- 2 to 4 years payroll processing experience in a multicompany, province environment required.
- Experience with Workday and Kronos is preferred.
Job Skills:
- Ability to plan & organize work schedules, establish workload priorities and perform assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of employee tax setup based on live/work jurisdictions. T4s & Releves
- Must be proficient with spreadsheets and database query skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word
- Work well under pressure
- Excellent customer services.
Communication Skills:
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must have the ability to communicate and disclose data in an accurate manner
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:
- Canadian Payroll Association CPA or CPM

- None
Environmental Requirements:
- Regularly sitting at a desk, using fingers to operate a computer key board, reaching for telephone or books with hands or arms, and talk or hear while on the phone or communicating with others.
