Our staff work in a matrixed environment, working on one or more clients, depending on the workload generated by each of our clients.

You may be teamed with certain Flexserv specialists for one client and other Flexserv specialists for another client.

Ultimately, our clients see you and the rest of our team as an integral part of their company on a long term basis.

This is a hybrid/remote opportunity depending on the clients needs.


The role requires 2-3 days per week onsite. Location Yonge and Eglinton

Duties and Responsibilities


As the Financial expert you are both driven and knowledgeable and possess exceptional communication skills and a thorough understanding of all areas of accounting and the ability to provide expert advice to the client.

In addition, you will build relationships and develop rapport with clients, lead delivery of financial accounting processes and also seek beyond standard accounting service.


These include but are not limited to the following:


  • Prepare annual financial business plans and targets, operating and capital budgets and forecasts
  • Ensure the account reconciliations, G/L management, monthly accruals, A/R, A/P and related functions, internal expense reporting, fixed asset management, tax filings and corporate tax installments are completed accurately and on time
  • Represent the client to their public accounting firm, CRA, their bank and other stakeholders
  • Prepare the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (to include P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow forecasts) and management reporting and analysis to support executive decision making. Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met and exceeded
  • Manage core finance processes, oversee accounting functions, and drive process improvement
  • Delivery of the financial accounting processes throughout the monthly cycle (including the delivery of the financial statements on month end)
  • Analyze key variances and monitor progress of action plans to improve results and strategically operate the business
  • Manage cash flow and capital spending
  • Consolidate reporting for multiple divisions
  • Establish and implement financial controls
  • Prepare weekly KPI reports and related analysis
  • Provide coaching development and mentoring to other accounting professionals and administrative staff
  • Ensure that company policies and procedures are followed by all staff and that all transactions are correctly reflected in the accounts
  • Serve as primary liaison with vendors, auditors, financial institutions

Qualifications

  • Member in good standing as a CPA or equivalent

  • Minimum 10 years accounting experience
  • Minimum 5 years management or supervisory experience in a related and progressive Finance/Accounting Role
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including coaching and mentorship
  • Strong analytical and problem solving mindset
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of full cycle accounting, financial statements, budgeting/forecasting, yearend functions
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls

Proficiency in Great Plains and or MS Dynamics is required

  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to analyze and define business problems, to identify operational or process solutions
  • Ability to organize time and juggle multiple urgent priorities
  • Ability to adapt to change and the ability to work autonomously and as a part of a team
  • Strong technical skills in MS Office suite
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills combined with a positive cando attitude
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills along with excellent documentation skills
  • Passion for process and continuous improvement to support various projects and initiatives
  • Proficient in the area of taxes and experience preparing and filing corporate tax returns is considered an asset
