MICROCOM is looking for an IT Technician who will be responsible for providing on-site technical support for one of our clients which is currently experiencing strong growth; it is a large company located in Saint-Eugene ON, close to the Québec border.

Founded in 1995, MICROCOM offers a set of strategy and technology services covering both IT infrastructure and business solutions. Most customers are based in the Greater Montreal area.


Roles and Responsibilities
-
Your job will be to_

  • Perform installation, administration and support tasks on the client's IT systems;
  • Communicate electronically, by phone or in person with users to assess and document their issues;
  • Install, configure and update software, computers and network devices;
  • Install and configure computer components such as memory sticks, disks or network devices;
  • Consult user guides, technical manuals and other documents to better understand how to implement solutions;
  • Configure and upgrade inhouse software complying with best practices;
  • Connect computers and equipments to the network and ensure they work as expected;
  • Make backups, copies, compress or destroy files on various media
  • Transfer data between workstations;
  • Document operations and configurations;
  • Provide support and advice to users;
  • Ensure high quality of service and customer satisfaction;
  • Organize and maintain a log for problems and solutions by collecting the right data; it will be used by the technical staff;
  • Perform certain tasks on networks.

Skills and knowledges

Know how _

  • Bilingual: English and French
  • Good IT culture: must know and understand the most common technologies (hardware, software and other) in use in the industry

More precisely:

  • Indepth knowledge of Microsoft Windows O/S for workstations (versions 7, 8, 10 and 11);
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server O/S;
  • Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix (asset for future projects);
  • Knowledge of networking and telecom (router, firewall, switch, internet);
  • Knowledge of hardware (workstation, laptop, tablets server);
  • Knowledge of office software (MS-Office Suite);
  • Experience in analyzing customer needs would be an asset.
