Purpose:


Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Maintenance Operations, the Maintenance Site Supervisor role assists with daily coordination of the maintenance operations for 14 residence buildings on the Keele Campus.

Committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion, the role is responsible for processing work orders and works closely with the Building Operations team by issuing service requests and ensuring these requests are completed in a timely manner.

In addition, the role assists with planning and allocating resources for the daily maintenance operation of the buildings to ensure that Housing Services provides a safe and a well-maintained environment for residents.

The Undergraduate Residence buildings comprise of 2,250 bed spaces that include self-contained suites, single and double rooms, and common shared facilities.

The York Apartment Residences comprises 1,300 self-contained units in 6 buildings.

The role ensures that work conducted at the York Apartments is in compliance with the Residential Tenancies Act and works closely with the Manager, Building Operations, and the Building Operations team, to coordinate Housing contracted services and renewal projects.


Education:

Post secondary diploma.
Class 'G' driver's license in good standing required.


Experience:

3 years related experience.
1 year of management or supervisory experience.
Experience in maintenance or facilities services environment.


Knowledge & Skills:

Knowledge of maintenance systems and quality assurance programs.
Knowledge of interior waste waste/recycling management.
Knowledge of building operating systems, equipment, and maintenance.
Knowledge of electronic access controls.
Knowledge of Collective Agreements.
Knowledge of Ontario Health and Safety Act and WHMIS
Leadership and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication skills.
Able to attend to detail and be clear, concise, and accurate.
Able to adapt content, tone, medium and style to audience to be inclusive.
Organizational skills.
Interpersonal and customer relation skills.


Additional Notes:

Normal work environment.
On-call, on a rotational basis, to respond to after-hours emergency calls and to coordinate appropriate response. On-call schedule communicated in advance.

Required to walk around residence buildings to follow up on projects, conduct site inspections and responding to building and staff issues (60% of time).

On occasion, may be exposed to cleaning chemicals and construction zones.
Peak transitional periods occur in the months of April-May, August-September, December-January. Additional scheduling flexibility may re required at these times.

Compensation:


York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.

Employees will receive the grid adjustment and depending on performance, eligible permanent employees may move to the next step of the grid and may receive a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
