Job Statement:

Position is responsible for the company's pillars of hygiene and food safety standard. Sanitation Manager to ensure establishing and documenting a fully compliant sanitation program meeting all regulatory requirements; ensuring that the sanitation program captures the cleaning of infrastructure, food plant and all manufacturing equipment


Essential Functions:


  • Accountable for plant sanitation, plant cleaning and housekeeping.
  • Proven change agent to execute significant improvements in maintaining assets and changeover time reductions and cleaning results while delivering on cost, safety, morale, skill capability, etc.
  • Knowledgeable and responsible for creating and implementing new SSOPs as well as revising and updating existing SSOPs
  • Responsible for employee scheduling.
  • Job assignment must consider the need to rotate sanitation employees for exposure to all cleaning procedures in the entire facility.
  • Ensure work safety, food safety and personal safety requirements are met.
  • Participate in hiring of competent resources and further develop them.
  • Develop, manage and maintain the sanitation program (MSS and SSOPs in CEPS).
  • Provide onthejob training (one on one, or group) when required.
  • Prepare schedule for employees.
  • Develop, coach, discipline, respond to employee suggestions and concerns, and provide feedback.
  • Train assigned sanitation employee on sanitation software data entry (backup).
  • Review/audit preoperational inspections on a regular basis in order to report noncompliance and take corrective actions to assure compliance to all quality assurance and food safety requirements
  • Must be experienced with reporting metrics and data trends.
  • Must be selfstarter, with strong bias for action and follow through with the ability to work afternoon/ nights and then days moving forward.
  • Organize and maintain current SDS pertaining to sanitation.
  • Order sanitation related supplies.
  • Participate in audits and followup on findings.
  • Facilitate vendor visits (Rabbi, Pest Control, Chemical supplier, etc.).
  • Participate in daily meetings (as required).
  • Perform performance evaluation for applicable employees.
  • Actively participate in FS inspections, followup meetings, monthly management meetings.
  • Collaborates with management and other department heads for effective cleanings.
  • Communicate with relevant service providers (Pest Control, Uniform, Waste Management, Chemical Supplier, etc.)
  • Preforms other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Physical Demand:


  • May be required to stand/ sit/ walk for long periods of time.
  • May be required to perform repetitive motions.
  • May engage in frequent bending, stooping or squatting.
  • May be required to twist, turn, climb and/or crawl.
  • Must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions which include extreme heat, humidity and cold.
  • Must be able to work in tight or enclosed spaces.
  • Must be able to work with chemicals and be able to read and understand WHMIS & SDS information.

Health and Safety:


  • Conduct all job tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Participate in all Health and Safety, GMP and HACCP training as required.
  • Report any accidents, incidents and unsafe/hazardous conditions to your team leader/ supervisor.
  • Report any damages of property and machinery to your superior
  • Ensure understanding of how and when to use the Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) that is located in designated work area.
  • Ensure compliance with OHSA, WSIB, MOL regulations and/ or laws that govern "workers" responsibilities in the workplace (covered during orientation section 28 of the OHSA i.e., "Green Book") and compliance with Tradition Fine Foods Ltd. Safety Rules and Good Manufacturing Practices, and HACCP Programs.

Job Specification:


  • Bachelor /MS degree in Food Science Technology / Microbiology or related field.
  • Minimum 5year experience in a Food Manufacturing in sanitation; 2 of which in supervisory role
  • Knowledgeable of programs related to sanitation; GMP, Cleaning Chemicals, Pest Control, etc.
  • Preference will be given to those who have experience coaching / disciplining employees.
  • Must be able to complete scheduling, payroll, and may be required to directly manage shifts when required
  • Confidence to challenge contractors, suppliers, etc. to provide exceptional delivery and low cost.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and responsible to achieve department and site KPIs.
  • Proficient in software: MS Office, GMAIL, ADP, etc.
  • Must have a sense of urgency for uptime of assets to support Operations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with organizational and leadership abilities
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
