Position Overview:


As a member of the Infectious Disease Epidemiology Research Unit (IDERU), the epidemiologist collaborates with other staff to manage, verify and clean data, export data to collaborators, create statistical analysis plans, and carry out data analysis for IDERU projects.

The epidemiologist also conducts relevant literature reviews, and drafts/assists with drafting study reports, abstracts, posters, and manuscripts.


Responsibilities

  • Manages large data sets including extraction, cleaning, manipulation, and complex analyses
  • Writes and executes computer programs for data extraction, data verification, and data merging and analysis using statistical software packages (e.g. STATA)
  • Prepares datasets for analysis by internal and external investigators and staff
  • Works with investigators and research managers to develop statistical analysis plans
  • Carries out statistical analysis according to analysis plans and/or investigators' requests
  • Interprets and synthesizes analytic output
  • Drafts/aids in the drafting of study reports, abstracts, posters, and manuscripts
  • Reviews and synthesizes relevant literature

Qualifications

  • Masters or PhD in epidemiology, biostatistics, or public health with strong quantitative component
  • Two years of previous experience with data management
  • Advanced skills in programming using statistical software (STATA preferred)
  • Experience with complex statistical data analysis, specifically repeated measures
  • Advanced analytical skills and an aptitude for accuracy, detail and problemsolving
  • Demonstrated understanding of various sources of biases in data
  • Superior organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a diverse research team to execute deliverables within stated timelines
  • Proficiency in MS Office and EndNote
  • Prior experience working on COVID19 or infectious disease related research preferred
