Matrix is hiring a full-time permanent Transportation Supervisor for our Client in Edmonton for their Waste Services team. The salary starts at $83K/ annually. The salary will be based on experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

Health and Safety:

Ensure all staff are abiding by the company's Occupational Health and Safety Program and set a positive safety example to support an ongoing commitment to Zero incidents.
Ensure compliance with all jurisdictional transportation regulations, including but not limited to, NSC and TDG regulations.

Operational Excellence:

Plan and direct transportation activities of the facility in alignment with the mission, vision, values, and operating policies and strategy.
Ensure that all aspects of transportation compliance, such as logs, registration, maintenance, and load securement are maintained at a high level.
Ability to plan and conduct Operations meetings and Safety meetingsDevelop, build and maintain JSA/SOP for Transportationrelated tasks.
Maintain Fleet of Heavy Trucks and Trailers, R&M, and CVI.
Complete Driver competencies for new hires.
Class I driving experience is required, and offhighway and hazardous material hauling is beneficial.

Financial Performance:

Manage, plan and budget repair and maintenance costs. Maintain a preventative maintenance program.
Develop relationships with vendors and source value services.
Execute on purchase order processes to assure probably cost tracking and management.
Have a good understanding of the financial reports and promote KPI driven culture.

Customer Service:

Ensure the transportation operations and its services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image.
Assist the Operations Manager with new ideas for growth, and recommend continuous improvement projects to support business unit operations and development.
Work with the team to design, purchase Heavy Trucks, trailers, and other related equipment to support Waste Services, and improve service offerings for clients.

Leadership:

Facilitate regular discussions with staff regarding operational improvements, critically review and improve operational processes where required.
Assist, support, and mentor operational staff, clarify workload expectations, and help lead, inspire and develop them.
Build a sustainable succession plan with achievable milestones. Develop leaders within the span of control.

Qualifications/Competencies:

The individual in this role will have:

Valid and current Class 1 Driver's License would be preferred.
Superior time management skills and ability to work effectively under pressure; ability to deliver under compressed timelines and to manage constantly changing priorities.
Experience in leading a group of people.
Experience in managing change and capacity to think outside the box.
Integrity and honesty a consistent approach to working with others.
