    Research & Development (R&D) is a part of the Innovation Organization, and within R&D is our Poultry Nutrition Research Team. Our team develops and creates novel nutritional solutions, including fundamental nutritional strategies, feed additives, and feeding programs targeting specific industry challenges to enhance productivity and producer returns.

    Our work directly contributes to creating a more sustainable food chain, because our nutritional solutions enable farmers to optimize their farming business and make better decisions on animal performance and animal welfare, whilst managing costs.

    Your Role and Responsibilities

    As a Poultry Nutrition Scientist ( broilers focus ) you build sustainable solutions for our customers that enhance animal performance and production efficiency while enhancing overall health and welfare in the post-antibiotic era.

    • Initiate, lead, and manage basic and applied multi-disciplinary poultry (layers / broiler) R&D projects including literature review, protocol design, data analysis, interpretation and reporting;
    • Play an active role in developing an idea through to a commercial product
    • Develop novel techniques for answering research questions and educate research technicians in their use;
    • Generate new project ideas through interaction with colleagues in commercial and scientific environments;
    • Present results at internal and external scientific meetings;
    • Participate in cross-functional matrix-organization research teams;
    • Forge highly-competitive external R&D collaborations;
    • Maintain and build a network of professional contacts through participation in industry and scientific associations;

    Desired competencies :

    • Proven track record in research and product development and/or quantitative nutrition in the area of poultry nutrition and digestive physiology
    • Good understanding of the poultry industry
    • Takes responsibility for actions, projects and people; takes initiative and works under own direction; initiates and generates activity and introduces changes into work processes; makes quick, clear decisions which may include tough choices or considered risks.
    • Speaks confidently; expresses opinions, information and key points of an argument clearly; makes presentations and undertakes public speaking with skill and confidence; responds quickly to the needs of an audience and to their reactions and feedback; projects credibility.
    • Maintains a positive outlook at work; works productively in a team/matrix organization; handles criticism well and learns from it; ability to adapt to ever-changing business environment; ability to learn and grow outside your comfort zone.
    • Accepts and tackles demanding goals with enthusiasm; identifies own development needs and makes use of developmental or training opportunities.

    Your Qualifications

    • PhD in Poultry or Animal Nutrition
    • Proven track record in successfully managing multiple development projects.
    • Superior planning and Project Management skills;
    • Self–motivated and results-oriented;
    • Ability to build, motivate and participate effectively in research project teams;
    • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, time management and organizational skills;
    • Ability to function as a team player with minimal supervision;
    • A proven track record of excellent oral and technical writing skills;
    • Strong experimental design, statistical analysis (SAS) and computer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills are required;
    • Fluent in English (writing and speaking), and knowledge of other languages is a plus.

    In this fulltime position with our office in Madrid area, Spain, you will report directly to the Global Poultry Research Manager.
