Position Description:


As a Patient Information Clerk in
Neonatal Neurodevelopmental Follow-up Clinic, you will frequently be the first point of contact when patients and families arrive to the unit.

You will provide service in a customer-focused manner.

You will facilitate the delivery of patient care by providing a high level of support and assistance to staff, patients and families.

You will also support the operation of the team/department by providing clerical and administrative functions in a proactive, organized manner.

You will be responsible for ensuring that information is complete, accurate, accessible, and protected. You will assist with patient registration, ensure thorough communication, manage documents, equipment, and supplies, and provide well-rounded customer service.


Here's What You'll Get To Do:

  • Greet and provide assistance to patients and families
  • Responsible for patient registration
  • Ensure related documentation is processed and patients/families and health care team are informed
  • Answer the telephone and respond to request for information in the clinic
  • Schedule return/followup appointments as necessary
  • Act as a liaison between patient care area and other departments/units across the hospital with regard to patient procedures.
  • Prepare weekly clinic charts and call to confirm patients attendance
  • Coordinate unit administrative functions to ensure efficient operation of the clinic
  • Identify improvement opportunities related to patient flow, administrative processes and technologies and take the initiative to problem solve with others
  • Prepare requisitions, referrals, labels and other documents
  • Work closely with Patient Information Coordinator to help optimize clinic function
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Essential Requirements

  • Proficiency with computers (ie., MS-Office Suite especially Outlook and Word)
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be punctual, reliable and adaptable
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to be selfdirected, flexible and take initiative
  • Excellent attention to detail and efficient time management skills
Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity and inclusion objectives

  • Customer service oriented

Assets

  • Diploma from a recognized Medical Administration program
  • Medical Terminology Certificate
  • Previous clerical experience in a hospital/medical environment
  • Experience with patient registration systems, such as EPIC

Employment Type
Part-Time (0.5 FTE) - Monday to Friday clinic
