Position Summary
Essential Responsibilities, Accountabilities & Results
- Ability to comprehend and follow work instructions, specifications, workflow diagrams and SOPs
- Ensure artworks are saved in designated server locations with correct file naming specifications
- Participate in process enhancement efforts and production meetings to have a positive impact on the business
- Provide guidance and support to the prepress team
Pre-flight and Organization of Incoming Jobs
- Review customer supplied files and compare to hard copies for differences and size conformity
- Align job instructions with supplied artwork
- Verify colors and resolution of CT's
Trapping & Assembly
- Receive product definitions from sales, project or production managers
- Adjust files to meet customer specifications
- Create traps, overprints, knockouts, minimum type and line thickness based on print type and client requirements
- Add color control marks, printer registration marks and ID marks to press ready files
- Organize files following job folder structure for project completion
- Produce proofs for internal checks and customer review
Completed Job Quality Control Check
- Ensure job accuracy including mark positions, color designations and job data
- Check final data deliverables such as PDF, TIFF, FTP upload
- Respect common separations and measure job trim dimensions accurately
- Complete required checklists and flag errors to Production Manager
Competency Requirements
- Understanding of digital file formats (pdf, tiff, eps) from Mac and PC systems
- Basic color management skills and working with digital formats
- Ability to output digital files to various devices and adapt to new graphics software
- Knowledge of print processes and color interactions
Educational & Experience Minimum Requirements
This role requires:
- High School Diploma/GED equivalent. Some College/Associate's Degree preferred
- 13 years of printing work experience preferred
- Excellent reading comprehension of work instructions and business communications
- Strong written communication skills for business letters, summaries, and reports
- Proficiency in proofreading and working independently
