Housing Support Administrator

(12 month contract)
JIAS Toronto is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to helping immigrants with settlement in the Greater Toronto Area. JIAS Toronto assists immigrants and refugees in meeting basic financial, language, social, and other requirements of immigration.

We work to advance the well-being and social integration of newcomers by providing a full range of settlement support, counseling, language training, and referral services.

We are currently looking a
Housing Support Administrator to join our team. In this role you will be supporting to JIAS clients in their search for housing.

Working independently and in coordination with the Program and Settlement Teams to ensure clients receive guidance and assistance to secure appropriate housing solutions.

This is a fulltime contract position for one year.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Primary booker of shortterm units through JIAS' partnership grant with
  • Provide input for monthly "How to Search for Housing" session for newcomers
  • Refer newcomers to resources that will ensure they understand their rights as tenants
  • Actively search for affordable units for JIAS clients facing barriers
  • Develop and maintain list of housing contacts with relevant information
  • Conduct outreach & relationship building meetings with landlords where possible
  • Attend staff meetings as well as other meetings and events as required
  • Prepare and provide monthly updates on deliverables as assigned
  • Report on metrics to funders and other stakeholders
  • Be flexible to work weekends and evenings as needed (as relates to troubleshooting bookings)
  • Represent the Agency's mission, vision and values in the community
  • Cultivate relationships with landlords where possible
  • Other duties as assigned or required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Degree or Diploma in Human Services or related field.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in the Settlement sector, not for profit sector, and/or in a social service agency.
  • Experience working with youth, seniors, immigrants, refugees, and/or Jewish community.
  • Strong organization, planning, logistics, and execution skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with client databases (Salesforce preferred).
  • Fluency in languages such as Hebrew, Russian, Arabic, Tigrinya, Farsi, etc.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented and able to maintain accurate records.
