Kerith Retreats department plans and coordinates Focus Canada's Christian retreat ministry.Staff within this team support the delivery of multi-day retreat sessions that focus on the renewal and refreshment of Christian ministry couples or singles.
-About the Positions_
The Caretaker and Housekeeper couple assume the responsibility for coordinating the care and maintenance of the facilities and grounds keeping and for cleaning and upkeep of the lodge and suites and in the basement of the house.
The Caretaker and Housekeeper couple will reside in the residence on the property and fair market value for the rent and utilities will be added to their remuneration as a taxable benefit.
Key Responsibilities of Caretaker
- Work with the codirector couple to develop a sustainable volunteer team for Kerith Pines events and facility to ensure the facilities are ready for all retreats, intensives and other Focus events
- Oversee all the Kerith Pines facilities and property including general upkeep of buildings and equipment
- Assemble and execute a maintenance schedule
- Assist other staff and volunteers to facilitate interior maintenance, janitorial (post retreat) lodge cleanup (linens, washrooms, suites, kitchen, floors, etc.) and other requirements of the lodge and residence buildings
- Ideally you would possess basic knowledge of building maintenance, safety procedures and grounds keeping
- In conjunction with codirector couple, oversee and coordinate various volunteer groups onsite for work projects such as improving trails, grounds keeping, and snow removal as required
- Assist codirector couple with recruiting and encouraging host couples (and individuals) for Kerith retreats as well as Hope Restored initiatives
- Fill in as host couple as needed
Key Responsibilities of Housekeeper
- Consistently maintain the overall cleanliness of the lodge before and after events, including replacing supplies, laundering linens, etc. to maintain a 5star standard
- Housekeeping for the suites in the residence as needed
- Replace cleaning supplies, toiletries, etc.
- Notify the Director of the need to replace larger items such as linens and towels
- Determine a schedule for completing bigger, more occasional jobs such as washing windows or walls, etc. and complete as needed
- May also work with director to recruit and coordinate volunteers to help with workdays to accomplish these bigger tasks
- In coordination with the codirector couple and other staff and / or volunteers, ensure that facilities are ready for all retreats, intensives and other Focus events
- Ideally you have experience with commercial cleaning
- Assist the caretaker with repairs and maintenance as time permits and when appropriate
- Fill in as host couple as required
