Job Type:
Full-Time/Part-Time, Permanent
Schedule:30-40 hours a week


Role:

In this role, you can expect to work alongside individuals with developmental disabilities by providing professional support while engaging in activities within the community.


  • Assist individuals with developmental disabilities/dual diagnosis with all areas of daily living including, but not limited to, daily living skills, attending medical appointments, participating in community life, etc.
  • Support clients engaging in challenging behaviour while remaining calm, neutral, and effectively using Safe Management Crisis Intervention Strategies
  • Implement Behavioural Support Plans and Skill Acquisition Programs to support skill development and reduce challenging behaviour
  • Facilitate and support Person Centered Planning
  • Working within an interdisciplinary team including Behavioural Therapists, Recreation Therapists, and Skill Acquisition Specialists with a goal of enhancing quality of life, building meaningful community relationships, and helping to complete activities they enjoy
  • Participate in a variety of recreational activities that promote community involvement (including swimming, hiking, skating, gymnastics, etc.)
  • Teaching and mentoring with the goal of full independence and social engagement

Qualifications:


  • Diploma in human services field
  • 2 years related experience (Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Valid Ontario Full G License and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Experience and/or knowledge in Applied Behavioural Analysis and Safe Management Techniques preferred
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid with AED
