    The Specialist Global Logistics- Customs utilizes expertise to transport WestJet materials worldwide. Reporting to the Sr Manager Customs & Logistics, this position involves collaborating with WestJet business units to plan and deliver equipment and supplies to various global locations. The ideal candidate will possess experience in international transportation, logistics, and customs procedures. A critical approach to meeting customer expectations, as well as the ability to work collaboratively and strategize within a team environment, are essential.

    *This position is from Monday to Friday during office hours.

    Responsibilities:

    • Oversee and manage all customs documentation and tariff database for WestJet
    • Assist with inquiries from business units regarding goods classification
    • Stay informed about changes in customs regulations, provide guidance to stakeholders on navigating changes
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with various supply chain departments on projects involving importation/exportation
    • Conduct internal audits across WestJet to ensure compliance with federal regulations
    • Assist with administrative tasks related to customs invoices, ensure prompt payment via invoice processing with accounts payable
    • Align requirements with operational capabilities, provide support to other business units
    • Offer assistance on critical projects as necessary
    • Proactively address and prevent customs-related delays
    • Ensure collaboration among all pertinent stakeholders
    • Act as a mentor, teacher, and subject matter expert in all customs-related matters

    Qualifications:

    • Several years of customs compliance experience
    • High School diploma or equivalent (post-secondary education is preferred)
    • Certifications such as CCS (Certified Customs Specialist), CITT (Canadian Institute of Traffic & Transportation)
    • Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations Certificate (Air & Ground)
    • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including MS Word and Excel
    • Experience in mentoring junior employees and team members
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; knowledge of Spanish and French would be beneficial
    • Consistent results in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
    • Excellent organizational skills
