Job Summary:

Your Role

  • Patient Care
  • Transport and transfer of patient
  • Equipment and station maintenance
  • Documentation management
  • Liaise with dispatch centre's, base hospital staff, police, fire and family members

Hours of Work

  • Part time paramedics shall submit their scheduling availability for the month ahead and be available to be scheduled a minimum nine (9) day shifts and nine (9) night shifts with two (2) day shifts and two (2) night shifts on the weekends.
  • Availability is required and assigned, on a rotational basis, over Christmas holiday (December 24, 25, 26) or New Year's holiday (December 31, January 1).

Qualifications

  • Completion of a two (2) year Community College program in Emergency Health Care/ Paramedicine (A-EMCA)
  • Preference given to those currently certified as a Primary or Advanced Care Paramedic in Ontario (Confirmation via a base hospital letter is required)
  • Meets all Ambulance Act and Ontario Regulation 257 requirements for employment
  • Valid CPR, Restricted Radio Operator's license and all qualifications that meet legislated requirements
  • Proven knowledge of basic and advanced life support patient care standards, procedures, techniques, and specifications related to Ambulance services, Base Hospital, equipment supplies, use of medications, vehicles and base stations
  • Working knowledge of the Ambulance Act and other related legislation, policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Class F driver's license with clear driver's abstract and clear Vulnerable sector and Criminal Record Check report
  • Central East Prehospital Care Program
  • Hamilton Health Sciences Centre for Paramedic Education and Research
  • Health Sciences North Centre for Prehospital Care
  • Northwest Region Base Hospital Program
  • Ornge
  • Regional Paramedic Program for Eastern Ontario
  • Southwest Ontario Regional Base Hospital Program
  • Sunnybrook Centre for Prehospital Medicine

Rate
This is a part-time opportunity at the Service. The hourly compensation range for this role is $40.85-$45.75.
