Job Duties
- Supervising participants to ensure they adhere to facility rules and regulations
- Provide Support to each participant specific to their identified Treatment Plan and Goals, additionally use any and all opportunities to maintain and reinforce their addiction treatment plan; when overseeing and facilitating social/recreational activities, one to one interactions/conversations and group gatherings, to inform and maintain focus on the addiction treatment plan, at all times and in all aspects of the treatment programming
- Medication administration to participants following MAR (training provided by iRecover)
- Reporting rulebreaking observed to counsellors
- Hourly rounds throughout the building
- Driving and accompany participants on trips offsite, for example NA/AA meetings, shopping trips, weekend group outings etc.
- Bag searches after shopping trips
- Answer questions participants might have and pointing them in the right direction to find answers
- Provide emotional support and active listening throughout the night for clients if necessary
- Completing a shift summary
- Maintain confidentiality
- General clerical duties may be required, for example creating binders that contains program materials
- General tidying of the facility
- Take garbage/recycling out as needed
- Keep snow cleared from the front/back deck doorways (winter)
- Any other duties assigned by the Director
Requirements:
- Experience working with the vulnerable population considered an asset
- Clean Drivers Abstract
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
- Trained in, or willing to become trained in Critical Incident Prevention
- Trained in, or willing to become trained in the Mental Health Services Protection Act, Mental Health Services Protection Regulation, Residential Addiction Treatment Service Standards.
- Up to date First Aid
Working Conditions
- May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to HIV and Hepatitis B or C viruses
- Interacts with residents, family members, staff, visitors and government agencies
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
- Ability to manage behaviourally complex individuals
- Ability to understand a myriad of mental health concerns
Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 40 per week
