Highlights of the jobWe are hiring one (1) Full Time, Permanent
Manager, Learning and Development position working out of Edmonton.
What you'd be responsible for
Planning & Execution**- Providing input to the Corporate Learning & Development operational plan and identifying objectives and priorities for the upcoming year.
- Developing and implementing deliverables within the context of the Learning & Development Operational plan.
- Ensuring deliverables of direct report positions are aligned and integrated, and include performance expectations and deliverable metrics.
- Anticipating challenges and obstacles to delivering the annual work plan.
- Identifying the necessary budget, resources, and staff required to deliver the annual work plan.
- Removing roadblocks and addressing issues, problems or concerns from team.
Operational Excellence:
- Ensuring adherence to processes, procedures and standards.
- Identifying and implementing process changes to ensure effective, and efficient service delivery.
- Monitoring and analyzing learning and development trends to improve development and delivery of training programs.
Talent
- Providing clear accountabilities and authorities to direct reports.
- Creating and managing a strong team through recruitment, retention, and development.
- Holding employees accountable for achieving results and demonstrating required behaviors.
- Developing and nurturing a collaborative, high performance, safe, accountable, focused, and innovative culture.
Relationships & Collaboration**- Ensuring effective cross functional relationships across the Learning and Development team, and EPCOR.
- Consulting with customers/stakeholders and collaborating with colleagues to create understanding and resolve issues or concerns.
- Providing insights and expertise to support decisionmaking.
- Working closely with the other Managers within the Learning and Development team to facilitate the development of effective training products.
- Facilitating external training vendor relationships on behalf of all Corporate Learning and Development Teams.
- Working closely with procurement and training vendors to build new vendor contracts and maintain existing contracts.
- A Degree in Commerce, Business, Human Resources or Education (preferably adult education) is required.
- 3+ years of leadership experience; managing a training function in a complex corporate environment.
- Advanced knowledge of adult learning concepts.
- Formal education in change management, project management or process improvement would be an asset.
- Experience with in Microsoft Office, SharePoint and Oracle Learning Systems, Storyline, Adobe Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Visio, Audacity, and other eLearning rapid production technology. A working knowledge of learning management systems.
- Experience in curriculum design, development, and program delivery related to safety, industrial, utility or technical training programs.
- Experience in creating and delivering online virtual, and blended learning programs.
- Experience in a large utility or industrial environment would be an asset.
- Leadership experience in a unionized environment would be an asset.
- Ability to prototype, outline, and storyboard ideas when developing training materials.
- Ability to create and design effective learning products that engages learners and enables change.
- Ability to prioritize conflicting priorities under tight deadlines with a concern for consistency, business goals, and client needs.
- Strong critical thinking, problemsolving, and verbal and written communication skills.
