Responsibilities:


Position Summary:


The Parts Clerk is primarily responsible for maintaining an inventorying, stocking, and issuing of parts and supplies and/or purchasing assigned or designated parts and services from an approved list of vendors at the maintenance facility for the use of the maintenance staff for the repair and maintenance of all transit vehicles.


Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:


The following is not intended to be a comprehensive list of the essential functions of the Parts Clerk position, but rather a general description of some of the requirements necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this position.

The Parts Clerk must be able to perform the following tasks, among others:


  • Performs regular physical inventory of all parts to ensure hand and bin locations are correct
  • Receives shipments from vendors, checking vendor packing slips/invoices for accuracy and ensuring quantities received are as stated
  • Loads and unloads supplies from vendor trucks and places them in the designated areas for easy retrieval
  • Confers with suppliers regarding late deliveries; maintains appropriate records
  • Stocks and issues parts and supplies
  • Rotates stock, restocks and relocates stock as required
  • Enters receipt and distribution of parts/supplies into computer to update automated inventory
  • Assembles and fills orders as requested
  • Issues parts to open workorders as parts are distributed to mechanics
  • Performs periodic cycle counts of supplies, communicates, and documents anomalies found
  • Complies with all regulations regarding the handling of hazardous materials
  • Obtains Safety Data Sheets (SDS) as required from vendors
  • Uses a variety of materials and inventory operations equipment such as, forklifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, computers
  • Sorts and processes warranty parts and materials
  • Maintains and cleans the stockroom
  • Maintains a safe work area and a focus on safety to reduce the opportunity for injury to self or other employees
  • Immediately reports all accidents/incidents in accordance with Company policies
  • Accurately maintains proper shift documentation reports, and records
  • Demonstrates regular and consistent attendance and punctuality in compliance with Company policies
  • Supports the department with various duties including special projects, providing backup when required
  • All other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:

The Parts Clerk works primarily in an office and stockroom within the maintenance garage.

The job requires the following physical activities:

sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, loading and unloading, typing, filing, answering phones and lifting or carrying moderately heavy and occasionally very heavy objects.

The Parts Clerk is occasionally exposed to various fumes and gases from vehicle exhausts, solvents, grease, oils, paint and other chemical hazards as well as extreme weather conditions while working outside.


Qualifications:

Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma
  • Two (2) Years' experience in automotive, truck and coach parts counter work or combination of education and experience may be substituted at the Company's discretion
  • A valid forklift operation certification, or the ability to pass the certification test on forklift operation within 30 calendar days of appointment
  • Working knowledge of Trapeze or similar maintenance software is an asset
  • A valid G Ontario Driver's License or higher with an acceptable driving record preferred
  • Be able to pass a Criminal Background Check

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:


  • Knowledge of automotive, truck and coach parts, tools, repair and equipment
  • Knowledge of general automotive, truck and coach stockroom practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of record keeping
  • Detail oriented and comfortable working in a fastpaced office environment
  • Highly organized and dedicated to completing projects in a timely manner
  • Ability to speak, read and write English
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement
  • Ability to maintain accurate automated inventory records
  • Ability to operate office equipment and machines
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Maintenance staff
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with all departments
  • Ability to work independently and objectively
  • Must have an ability to develop and maintain a good working relationship with other staff
  • Ability to plan ahead and schedule work
