Background:

Founded in 1901, Ontario Soccer is currently comprised of more than 500 Clubs servicing over 24,000
teams with 380,000 registered players, 70,000 coaches and managers, and 6,000 match officials, as
well as countless volunteers, parents and supporters encompassing a direct, multi-cultural community
of over 1,000,000 Ontarians.

Ontario Soccer develops and delivers exceptional and sustainable programs and services throughout
Ontario with the mission of providing leadership and support for the advancement of soccer in
collaboration and cooperation with our member District Associations, partners and other
stakeholders. Ontario Soccer also operates the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL); the
province's premier standards based youth development program, as well as "Team Ontario", Ontario
Soccer's provincial Xcel program. Ontario Soccer proudly supports Canada Soccer's National Teams,
the Canadian Premier League and Toronto FC.

The overall objective of Ontario Soccer as a hub for Coach, Match Official and Player Development is
to be innovators and leaders in sport and to assist with the equitable development of soccer as a
healthy lifestyle choice, provide a talented pathway for participants to excel and encourage inclusive
community involvement at all levels.


Position Summary:

The position is responsible for assisting the Manager, OPDL & Club Development in matters relating
to Ontario Soccer's program, the OPDL, and associated initiatives. The Coordinator, OPDL will
provide support and guidance to Ontario Soccer Member Clubs and Districts on the Ontario Player
Development League (OPDL).

The primary accountability for this role will be to support and administer the Ontario Player

Development League (OPDL) program deliverables, while also coordinating with other staff to

effectively deliver the OPDL programming to both provincial and national standards.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Support and administer the operations of the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL)

Develop strong relationships with OPDL Licence Holder staff and engage in continual and
effective communication

Manage OPDL inquiries and communication with external stakeholders such as players,
parents and coaches

Oversight and implementation of standards, policies and procedures of the OPDL

Liaise with Ontario Soccer staff to effectively align and deliver against the strategy and
direction of Development Programs and standards

Prepare, plan and attend all OPDL meetings and events and, where necessary, provide support
to management staff, committee members and volunteer staff.

Lead the development and manage an Annual Calendar for all OPDL-related activities
Support, as required, the Manager, OPDL & Club Development to develop and monitor the
- annual budget
  • Coordinate with Competitions and the League Management Service Provider, the development
and implementation of competition schedules, venue bookings, discipline, and all game day
operation activities

Support to both Provincial Xcel and Competitions teams as required

Collaborate on the development of assessment processes and tools to evaluate the OPDL
annually for future enhancement

  • Promote and represent Ontario Soccer and all its programs in a professional manner with
License Holders, the Membership, external organizations, and communities

  • Other additional duties as may be reasonably expected by Ontario Soccer from time to time

Qualifications:


Experience:

Minimum 2 years of experience in sport management (preferably in Soccer)
Understanding of Standards-based programming and assessment
Experience with file sharing systems, website content updating
Experience working with volunteers, events and customer service
Sports League Management or similar experience (preferably in Soccer)


Education and Professional Designations:

Post-Secondary education in sports administration, physical education, recreation or other
related discipline; or comparable work experience

Canada Soccer Coaching licensing, or foreign equivalents, an asset


Skills and Competencies:

Subscribes to continual self-improvement while demonstrating great initiative and energy

Well-developed time management skills to accommodate the requirements of the role

Highly organized with an ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment, and multitask
managing multiple deadlines.

Process oriented with a proven ability to develop and enhance protocols while enrolling
external stakeholders

Understanding of Youth Competitions and Long Term Player Development or other similar
Canadian Sport For Life LTAD-based development philosophies

Approachable, diplomatic, reliable and trustworthy

Highly organized with an ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment, an
