Position Purpose
The People & Culture Coordinator provides administrative support to a range of functions at the Centre.

The position involves supporting the recruitment and orientation process, managing employee files and related documentation, promoting a positive work environment and actively pursuing ways to improve employee engagement initiatives through supporting the Centre's management in effective employee relations.

Responsibilities

Administration and Information Management

  • Oversee the full cycle recruitment and hiring process, including phone screens, conducting references and drafting of offer letters
  • Monitor the maintain the human resource files, ensuring that all related documents are included and updated, ensuring the highest level of confidentiality is maintained
  • Administration of the employee benefits plans
  • Collaborate with the Office Manager regarding health and safety functions, ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting a culture of adherence to safety procedures.
  • All other duties that may be assigned

Policies and Procedures

  • Participate in the development, implementation and maintenance of human resource policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development of People & Culture goals, objectives and processes to improve the range of functions/practices.

Employee Relations

  • Support management in employee relations activities, including the development and implementation of programs to improve staff engagement.
  • Support the performance management process, including participation in improvement and recognition initiatives for employees.
  • Participate in actively promoting employment equity and workplace diversity, ensuring inclusion and collaborative approaches to work.

Labour Relations

  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with union stewards as it relates to recruitment and hiring practices
  • Participate in the drafting of responses to grievances; mediation/arbitration required.

Recruitment and Orientation

  • Support the full cycle recruitment process of the Centre, including generating job postings, phone screens and facilitating the onboarding process.

Organizational

  • Conduct job responsibilities with a commitment to harm reduction, trauma
- informed, women-centered and anti-oppressive practices.

  • Abide by the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and work in a manner that is safe, reporting incidents immediately to direct supervisor.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of The Jean Tweed Centre.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in order to meet the overall goals and objectives of The Jean Tweed Centre.
  • Maintain a client Service Orientation including learning about and addressing client needs and concerns.
