    The team

    The contributes to Toronto Metropolitan University's bold vision by providing the bedrock of innovative systems and structures required to build a world-leading institution. Every member of the university community is an RO client. The RO is involved in the entire academic experience of the student body from admission through to graduation, providing reliable support through a wide range of services and safeguarding the integrity of the university's policies and student records. We provide expert guidance to academic leaders regarding student recruitment, admissions, student financial services, student fees, new programming initiatives, transfer credit, course offerings, grading processes, scheduling, academic policy and curriculum management.
    Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment processes and assesses more than 80,000 applications annually for admission to Toronto Metropolitan University's undergraduate degree programs.

    The Opportunity

    The Office of the Vice Provost, Students (OVPS) is looking for a Finance Manager who will design, recommend, and manage all financial activities and processes related to operational services and programs, supporting the Office of the Registrar (RO). This position reports to the Director, Budget and Finance in OVPS, with a dotted line reporting to the University Registrar. The Finance Manager will provide expertise to the department leadership to support strategic goals and priorities by managing financial operations efficiently, innovatively, and professionally in accordance with OVPS division and university policies and procedures. They will determine best practices for setting up internal processes to ensure successful financial operations by creating and applying financial controls and monitoring operational revenues and expenditures. Additionally, they will provide budgeting and performance tracking services to the Registrar and other leaders within the RO, with strategic leadership and oversight from the Director, Budget and Finance, including risk assessment and making recommendations for budget adherence or enhancement.

    Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in financial analysis, financial management, including financial planning, budgeting and reporting, preferably in a public sector organization.
  • Experience with restricted and accrual methods of accounting.
  • Experience preparing year-end working papers and complex annual statements.
  • Experience in budgeting, performing variance analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience with fund/project accounting.
  • Designation such as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or working towards designation.
