Volunteer Services is a central resource to the entire organization, responsible for the recruitment,

retention, and recognition of over 1000 volunteers who dedicate over 20,000 hours each year.

references with the goal of securing permanent employment.


What You Will Do

  • Reporting to the Manager of Volunteer & Student Services, the incumbent will be working under the daytoday direction of the Volunteer Services Coordinators.
  • The Volunteer Services Assistant is also required to perform other clerical and administrative duties to support the work of Volunteer & Student Services.
  • The Program Assistant will work closely with the volunteer coordinators to ensure that programs complete the necessary documentation of volunteer activities and follow the procedures outlined by the unit.
  • Assist in the administrative and logistic work to organize volunteer and student group discussions, workshops, orientation, and training sessions (sending invites, maintain list of participants, send feedback form,etc.).
  • The Program Assistant will also be working with the volunteer services team to plan and implement our annual volunteer recognition.
  • Provide backup support to main reception and cover daily breaks of the front desk clerk.
  • Any other related tasks as required.

What You Bring to the Team

  • MUST BE CURRENT ONTARIO WORKS (OW) RECIPIENT.
- (Qualified applicants will be directed to the City of Toronto for screening).

  • At the time of this posting, the position is onsite.
  • Effective September 7, 2021, all newly hired employees will be required to provide proof that they have completed an approved course of vaccination against COVID19 at least 14 days prior to commencing employment or provide documentation to support an exemption based on grounds covered by the Ontario Human Rights Act (i.e. Medical exemption).

What Will Set You Apart

  • Demonstrated administrative or customer relations skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills including MS Office Suite, comfortable using online platforms and with conducting internet research.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to communicate clearly with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Working knowledge and experience with creative media.
