NewAge is looking for an Inbound Freight Manager who will build out and manage our inbound logistics.

Reporting to the Director of Supplier Development, the Inbound Freight Manager will manage the teams responsible for transportation and customs compliance of inbound shipments to our distribution centres.

As part of the Supply Chain team, you will play a key role in improving our costs, supply chain reliability, and product innovation.

You will help us increase performance, capability, robustness, and sophistication of our inbound supply chain. - helping us deliver the best possible value to our customers.


Position Responsibilities:


  • Partner with our Supply Planning, Quality Control, and Warehouse teams, immersing yourself in daily operations to ensure seamless inbounding, and to proactively solve problems with internal and external partners
  • Develop, expand, and optimize our network of third party providers
  • Lead inbound freight projects from start to finish.

Key focus areas will include:
Spot/Market/Contract rate RFQ's, contract negotiations, technology integrations, vendor performance reporting, minimizing accessorial charges.

  • Lead continuous improvement efforts across our inbound supply chain, improving our core metrics of reliability, quality, and cost while growing and expanding capabilities within our vendor network
  • Support on weekly operational status and cost reporting, including variance analysis / explanation
  • Build, manage, and coach small teams of export and freight coordinators in India and China (direct reports). Provide onsite training to India staff.
  • Ensure freight and customs invoices are paid on time
  • Report Inbound Freight Charges monthly to upper management
  • Ensure Freight and Duties accruals are accurate. Provide explanations on differences.
  • Assist with other Supply Chain/Inbound Logistics related tasks and projects as assigned by management.

Transportation:


  • Oversee the delivery of shipments to multiple distribution centres from overseas and interwarehouse transfers.
  • Ensure that the shipping plans are provided to shippers on time and confirm the shippers' compliance.
  • Communicate with warehouses to ensure that arrangements are made to receive inbound shipments.
  • Provide shipping forecast to ocean carriers.
  • Oversee Direct Import containers operations
  • Ensure DC and Suppliers scorecard are up to date
  • Troubleshoot logistics issues as they arise.
  • Procure / negotiate freight with new carriers and truckers.
  • Establish relationship with ground carriers (Truck / Rail).

Customs Compliance:


  • Ensure shipping documents are submitted to brokers for customs clearance.
  • Oversee all Canadian and US customs related activities.
  • Maintain HS / customs duty database
  • Ensure shipping documents are submitted to warehousing partners.
  • Maintain ETAs up to date on SAP.
  • Approve and track freight costs, accessorial and customs charges.
  • Collect spot rates from carriers on a monthly basis.
  • Submit claims for duty drawback.

Experience & Knowledge Required:


  • Postsecondary education and/or equivalent, preferably in a related field of study such as Supply Chain Management.
years of Supply Chain / Offshore Logistics experience required.

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a leadership / management role.
  • Familiarity with shipping terms and documents (e.g. ISF, packing list, commercial invoice, bill of lading, Incoterms, etc.).
  • Proactive attitude with excellent customer service, communication and problemsolving skills.
  • Strong initiative, analytical ability and effective communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI
