About Us:


The Office of Institutional Planning & Budgeting (IPB) is responsible for the management and coordination of the University's planning and budgeting processes, and provides statistical, analytical, institutional research, and administrative support to the University's Executive Officers and senior Senate and Board of Governors committees in planning, budgeting, and policy matters.


Responsibilities:


The Junior Planning Analyst is responsible for providing timely and accurate reports and analyses regarding a range of University activities using complex databases as it relates to space and facilities.

The role will collect, store, report and analyze data and trends as they relate to University operations, and will provide guidance and support to the Western community to ensure that data is accurate and available.

The Junior Planning Analyst will also assist with preparing comprehensive reports to satisfy internal reporting requirements, and to ensure that the aspects impacting the University can be critically examined.


Qualifications:


  • Education:
  • Undergraduate Degree in a relevant discipline
  • Completion of, or working towards, Space Planning Professional Certification
  • Experience:
  • 3 years of experience working with complex databases to produce detailed reports
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Familiarity with best practices related to analysis, planning and reporting and of analysis methods and techniques, and data analysis tools
  • Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
  • Communication skills with an ability to complete detailed analytics and reports
  • Competency to maintain confidentiality and treat sensitive information with discretion
  • Ability to provide solutions and ideas for improvement by using imaginative approaches where constructive thinking and innovation are required
  • Ability to produce highquality results and workable solutions that meet client needs
  • Ability to make decisions and recommendations that are clearly linked to the organization's strategy and goals
  • Attention to detail with an ability to retrieve, analyze and synthesize sizable amounts of data, while ensuring that information is accurate and comprehensive
  • Selfdirected, and comfortable exercising discretion and independent judgment in a fastpaced environment
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple concurrent assignments and tasks efficiently
  • Ability to work in a fluid and evolving work environment with changing deadlines and priorities

  • Ability to identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Project management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously from conception to completion within tightly prescribed timelines
