Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with Principal Investigators, research teams, and external collaborators to plan, execute and interpret analyses
  • Manage medium and large size datasets for multiple projects, including data cleaning (quality control), data management (merging and updating), and deriving variables
  • Independently develop and write secondary data analyses protocols, concept notes, and data creation plans
  • Independently conceptualize, draft and revise academic journal articles and presentations as lead author
  • Train and supervise research students and staff on related projects as required
  • Participate in administrative committees, scientific meetings, and protocol development meetings for related projects
  • Participate in ongoing learnings and trainings

Qualifications and Requirements:


  • Completed PhD in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or other relevant field; or equivalent of 4 years of work experience in epidemiology or biostatistics

  • REQUIRED:
  • Demonstrated advanced experience with descriptive and multivariable modeling and expertise with R, STATA, SAS, or relevant statistical language

  • REQUIRED:
  • Experience working with large and complex data files, including the primary survey data sets and linked data files

  • REQUIRED:
  • Experience working in the field of sexual health, HIV/STI epidemiology is an asset
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical methods and experience working with longitudinal data

  • REQUIRED:
  • Experience with social and/or sexual network analyses is an asset
  • Experience with quantitative bias analyses is an asset
  • Exceptional scientific writing skills
  • Experience authoring manuscripts as first/leadauthor (minimum two firstauthor or cofirst author, peerreviewed publications)

  • REQUIRED:
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to work effectively with and communicate with individuals of varying levels of statistical and computer expertise
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Past supervisory experience of students or research staff
  • Motivated, selfstarting, and collaborative, with strong time management and project coordination skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks, work accurately and effectively with deadlines
  • Demonstrated commitment to addressing the social determinants of health and operating from an antiracist, antioppressive framework
