ELEMENTARY AREA COUNSELLORS

Richmond School District operates 38 elementary schools, 10 secondary schools, alternate programs, continuing education and a number of additional facilities.

The district enrolls approximately 21,000 students (K-12) and employs over 3000 dedicated staff.

Area Counsellors work in a proactive manner with students and their families to support success in student academic and social/emotional development and will have knowledge of, and ability to access outside agency support.

Applicants must also be able to articulate strategies for dealing with a diverse set of students with varying learner profiles and be able to work closely with administrators and resource teachers to ensure that appropriate support structures are in place.

Support of the District's various initiatives and directions (PBIS, ERASE, SOGI, Mindfulness, EASE, etc.) is expected.

Applicants must be certified by the Ministry of Education, Teacher Regulation Branch and have a Master's degree in counselling and a minimum of five (5) years classroom teaching experience at the secondary grade levels.
