Position Summary:


Working with the Manager, HVAC this position is responsible for 24/7 HVAC Technical support, coordination, monitoring and control of the Building Management Systems (BMS) and daily maintenance operations of 30 plus buildings at Toronto Pearson.

This position will work very closely with the HVAC maintenance and Controls contractors on all planned maintenance, repairs and project work to ensure that it is completed safely, efficiently and on time.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Provide HVAC Technical Support, analyze, coordinate, monitor and control building operations and daily operations
  • Ensure proper functioning of a multitude of systems Lighting Management System, Power Management System, Elevator and Moving Walkways, Boilers, Chillers, Cooling Towers and Preconditioned
  • Air Systems through a network of various Integrated systems within the BMS
  • Responds to trouble calls related to HVAC and air quality in all terminals and buildings by occupancy and demand
  • Coordinate and inspects the maintenance, repair or project work done by the operators and service contractors, relating to HVAC or BMS system, to ensure the work completed was required, completed within timeframes, and performed correctly, safely and efficiently
  • Initiate contingency plans related to scheduled major repairs and system upgrades
  • Perform regular inspection of the work areas where contractors frequent in order to identify potential hazards and initiate corrective action
  • Perform analysis and annual inspections for all systems
  • 24 / 7 monitoring of systems critical alarms

Qualifications:


  • Secondary school diploma
  • Stationary Engineering Certification or Equivalent Qualification (Building Environmental Systems Operator class I & II or BOMI Building Energy Certificate/Building System Maintenance Certificate)
  • 5 years experience in building operations
  • Heating Ventilating and Air conditioning, and Building Automation System Controls Experience
  • Heating and Cooling Plant operation and Maintenance experience
  • Able to obtain "DA" Class AVOP
  • Valid 'G' Class Driver's License
  • Demonstrated experience working in a customer centric environment
  • Able to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Knowledge and ability to use the Johnson Controls Metasys System, General Electric Lighting Systems, extended Architecture Engineering and setup
  • Knowledge of Douglas Lighting Management and Controls Systems
  • Ability to interpret architectural, Mechanical Plumbing, Electrical drawings and control system diagrams, drawings
  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot Lon based controllers and network
  • Thorough knowledge of Airport wide Heating and Cooling Distribution Systems
  • Thorough knowledge of open and closed loop Water Treatment to enhance equipment life span, prevent corrosion, scaling, sludge build up, bacterial and algae growth
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE standards and Building Codes
  • Knowledge of commissioning and initial equipment start up
  • Ability to implement Energy Management Strategies through programming equipment operational schedules and Load Shedding at peak demand hour
  • Ability to communicate clearly concisely and accurately in both written and oral form through different medium.
  • Ability to operate digital Radio/Telephone communication tool
  • Ability to respond to complaints regarding Temperature, Humidity, Lighting level.
  • Thorough Knowledge of GTAA Buildings, Airport grounds and facilities systems and how they are interrelated
  • Thorough Knowledge of computer software such as Access Database, Excel, Word, Outlook, Wonderware, INET, etc.
  • Ability to run queries on Maximo and Remedy Action Request
  • Ability to simultaneously monitor multiple radio channels and listen for alarms from base building systems
  • Ability to decide priority of each call based on public safety and impact on Airport Operation
