Summary of responsibilities:


Reporting to the Manager, Training and Certification Development, the Advisor, Training and Certification Development is responsible for the design, development and ongoing quality improvement of training aids and assessment tools within CATSA's National Training and Certification Program (NTCP) and Recurrent Learning Program (RLP), as well as any other training program that may be required.

The Advisor, Training and Certification Development performs all other duties and responsibilities related to the position as required.


What you need to succeed

To qualify for the position, you must have:

  • Graduation from a recognized college or university in Educational Technology, Adult Education, Instructional Design, Graphic Design or another specialty relevant to the duties of the position;
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in an adult learning, graphic design, or facilitation role;
  • Demonstrated experience using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) on learning development and/or delivery projects for a corporate audience;
  • Experience in the air transportation or security industry;

This position is best suited to individuals with the following skills and abilities:

  • Solid knowledge of adult education theory and instructional design principles;
  • Flexibility, initiative, creative problemsolving, innovation;
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and stress and adapt to changing priorities;
  • Ability to work independently and within a team;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
  • Ability to influence decisionmakers and to negotiate agreements;
  • Strong listening and time management skills;
  • Ability to synthesize and interpret complex information, and clearly communicate to others both verbally and in writing;
  • Relationship building / trusted advisor skills;
  • Analytical thinking and sound judgment.

Valuable skills include:


  • Experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS);
  • Experience in instructional design and educational technology tools;
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority's mandate, its operating environment, interrelationships with other government and industry stakeholders and CATSA SOPs;
  • Experience using learning development tools: Lectora, Articulate, Sound Booth, Adobe Media Encoder, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Audacity, Sketchup, Blender or others.

Specific work requirements

  • Ability to work overtime as required;
  • Ability to travel as required;
  • Language profile: English essential;
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance;
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
