Purpose of Role:


The goal of the Corporate Development Team is to identify, assess and execute business-enhancing corporate transactions (including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and equity investments involving mining assets or related infrastructure) that are aligned with Kinross' broader corporate strategy.


Analyst, Corporate Development is responsible for researching, compiling information and preparing analysis in support of all aspects of Corporate Development activities.

This includes the maintenance and continuous enhancement of multiple financial models including the Corporate Model and related processes. The role also supports general due diligence activities, as well as reporting for the Junior Equity Investment ("JEI") portfolio.


Responsibilities:


  • Corporate Model
  • Maintain the Corporate Model and collaborate with large interdisciplinary teams including Technical Services, Operations, Tax, and Finance to ensure most current information is accurately reflected
  • Support Impairment Testing and related modeling and valuation work on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Analysis and interpretation of financial projections related to the corporate model, including liquidity forecasting and various scenario analysis


  • Due Diligence Support

  • Assist with the management of financial and technical due diligence processes in the evaluation of potential opportunities
  • Analysis and interpretation of technical and financial information including financial filings, technical studies and industry reports
  • Development of internal documentation and presentations including business proposals to Senior Management and the Board of Directors
  • Other Analysis and Responsibilities
  • Monitor and update JEI portfolio, and assist with execution of sales and new investments
  • Management of the M&A blackout list
  • Review and maintain internal documentation and procedures
  • Contribute to special projects, as required

Scope of Responsibility and Complexity:

Work is complex involving both routine tasks and unique projects often under tight time constraints. In all cases the Analyst is expected to ensure assigned projects are completed on-time, and to a high standard.

Where appropriate, it is expected that the Analyst will identify, evaluate and implement modifications to projects, plans and procedures in response to needs.

Work is performed under varying degrees of supervision and requires judgement and adaptability.


Required Qualifications:

Education

  • University degree, ideally in Engineering, Geology, Finance, or Accounting
  • CSC, CBV, or enrollment in CFA would be an asset
Experience

  • 1 to 2 years of related work experience in the investment banking, equity research, or valuations industry
  • Experience developing and analyzing financial models
  • Additional technical experience in the mining industry, is a strong asset
  • General familiarity with the precious metals mining industry

Skills:


  • High level of proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated mastery of quantitative financial analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly, flexibility in fastpaced environment, strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and with limited direct supervision
