The Student Accessibility and Achievement provides support services and reasonable accommodations to McGill students of all levels of study with documented disabilities of either a permanent, temporary, or episodic nature.
They foster an accessible and inclusive university experience for McGill's diverse student population in collaboration with other Student Services and the wider McGill community through resources and services.
Additional Information:

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Team Lead - Learner Supports, the incumbent is a key point of contact for McGill undergraduate, graduate and continuing studies students who have documented experience in foster care and/or youth protection.
Develops, administers and acts as referral to a suite of supports to assist students with their transition to student life at McGill University, meeting their academic goals, and supporting their overall sense of belonging and well-being.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess support needs of students experiencing academic, social or physical barriers and who have a documented experience in foster care and/or youth protection systems.
- Assess and refers students to appropriate resources both on and off campus.
- Documents cases for follow up & continuity of serviceprovision. Establishes a system to identify & track any students needing additional, specialized support.
- Collaborates with Campus Life & Engagement and other McGill and external partners to codevelop and facilitate Orientation activities and periodic communitybuilding events throughout the year for the student cohort.
- Collaborates with Enrolment Services to support their outreach efforts by delivering materials and providing expertise and guidance on outreach and recruitment strategies for youth in care.
- Support Admissions by communicating McGill's oncampus supports with newly admitted and enrolled students from care.
- Liaises between students, faculty, key personnel within Student Services (e.g., Scholarships & Student Aid, Campus Life & Engagement, Student Wellness Hub, First People's House, Career Planning Services, Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, etc) and other student assistance areas of the McGill community (e.g., Student Affairs Offices, Academic Advising, Student Housing & Hospitality, Office of the Dean of Students) to promote oncampus supports available to students from care within the University.
- Works with Student Services units to establish relationships with key external partners to build referral pathways and resource list of supports for students from care within and beyond McGill. (e.g. communitybased organizations, healthcare providers, etc.).
- Develops and presents workshops and webinars to students on relevant topics.
- Develops and delivers trainings with field experts for designated liaisons from McGill partner units to promote awareness and traumainformed approaches to serving students with experience in care and from vulnerable backgrounds.
- Maintains current knowledge of child welfare policies, issues facing vulnerable youth, strengthsbased programs and resiliency theory.
- Attends conferences and networking events to share best practices and expand knowledge of supporting vulnerable youth.
- Collaborates with Student Services Strategy, Assessment and Evaluation to assess student needs, and evaluate delivery of services and support for students.
- Collaborates with Student Services Communications and Enrolment Services to develop targeted outreach, promotional materials and reports.
- Meet with students from care program advisory board to provide updates and assess activities and service provision
- Undertakes special projects as determined by the Team Lead, Learner Support.
Graduate degree in Social Work, Educational Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Inclusive Education or another psychosocial field, a strong asset.
Membership in OTSTCFQ, OCCOQ or other professional order, a strong asset.
