Description
We are a North American Leader in the Fabrication sectors with operations across Canada, and the USA.We are a fully-integrated supplier of manufacturing and engineering services providing steel components and complex, high value-added assemblies for the agricultural, construction, mining, energy, heavy truck and industrial sectors.
The Shipper & Receiver is facility specific, and will organize and supervise the flow of finished goods out of the plant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare shipping documents and dispatch shipments of parts/products in accordance with customer releases and courier requests from other departments.
- Receive incoming packaging returned from the customer and store it in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Responsible for maintaining an inventory count of packaging and identifying and segregating damaged packaging.
- Ensure that all pertinent safety regulations with regards to safe operation of a Lift Truck and safe handling of materials are adhered to.
- Keep all finished goods in stock areas organized and neat, and manage stock rotation.
- Keep packaged material storage areas organized and neat. Also, have knowledge of packaging material inventory to ensure that the proper level of inventory is maintained.
- Perform audits on finished goods and components to verify inventory as required.
- Perform data entry in the computer as required.
- Perform inventory counts of packaging material and stock inventory at suppliers as required.
- Responsible to perform in house finished goods and component inventory as required.
- Responsible to audit the condition of each load of finished goods to ensure that trucks are loaded properly.
- Ensure that all shipments leave on time with the necessary documentation and that an accurate advance shipping notice is sent to the customer within the required time.
- Ensure that the correct documentation is used in all transactions. Also, ensure that all trucks are called on time for shipments.
- Ensure that shipping & receiving department lift truck is maintained in its peak working condition.
- Receive incoming parts, materials and supplies and perform receiving inspection functions as required.
- Ensure that the received items are stored in the proper designated locations.
- Ensure that returnable packaging is sent to suppliers as required.
- Process receiving paperwork according to work instructions.
- Knowledge of CTPAT rules and regulations for incoming & outgoing goods.
- Follows and comply with all Operational Procedures and policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs (i.e. IATF, ISO 14001)
- Support for activities delegated by Materials Manager, regarding Materials Management related audits for ISO 9001 etc.
- Assist with inventory counts as required.
- Notify Materials Manager of any low stock conditions.
- Comply with requirements as outlined in the company handbook and the OHSA.
- Comply with all health and safety policies and procedures; and legislative requirements.
- Make suggestions for improvements in Matcor work methods.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.

- Requires a High School Diploma / College Diploma.
- Requires a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in Shipping & Receiving, MaterialHandling, internal & external logistics, ideally within a low volume/high mix manufacturing environment.
- Requires a valid Forklift Operating License.
- Skilled with the traditional as well as advanced methods used in inventory control.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Strong ERP/MRP systems knowledge, prior experience with CMS an asset.
- Experience with lean concepts/tools such as VMI, Vending Machine Management, Kanban, JIT and Kaizen
- Understanding of production flow principles and manufacturing processes.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with many levels and types of people.
- Good written & oral skills.
- Problem solving and decisionmaking skills
- CMS working knowledge is preferred, ERP & MRP knowledge required and computer proficiency required.
