  • Reporting to the designated Staffing Officer, the Assistant Staffing Administrator, Support Staff will _
- be responsible for: _

- _Administering the staffing and recruitment processed and Employee Services functions _
- (e.g. salary administration, leave administration, HRIS) for an identified department/group _
- of employees; _
- _Providing information and advice regarding Employee Services policies, procedures, _
- protocols and collective agreement provisions regarding staffing, salary administration, _
- administration of leaves of absence etc.; _
- _Providing confidential support to the management team to support the grievance and _
- arbitration process; and _
- _Preparing, analyzing and interpreting staffing data and checking all data for accuracy
Summary of Duties:
Administer the staffing and recruitment processes for designated departments/schools/groups of

support staff;
Provide advice and guidance to Principals/Managers regarding Employee Services policies and

procedures relating to the posting and selection process for support staff (permanent, temporary,
funded etc);
Assist Principals/Managers in the development of selection criteria and interview questions,
evaluation of applicants and coordination of reference checks;
Board's Employee Services policies and procedures, employment related legislation, collective
agreement provisions, performance and attendance matters;
Administer salary and employee entitlements (e.g. sick leave, vacations);
Ensure accurate and timely set-up/update of employee information on HRIS and in hard copy;
Conduct internal audits of employee information/records both electronic and hard copies;
Ensure accurate and complete documentation for new hires;
Provide confidential support to the Staffing management team including preparation of reports,

correspondence and data;
Develop and maintain establishment databases for schools/departments ensuring

accuracy of approved positions, incumbents, FTEs, employment status etc;
Gather and analyze confidential information pertaining to staffing and respond to requests for

such information in a timely manner;
Provide direction and leadership to designated staff;

Respond to inquiries and resolve issues from Principals, Managers, other TDSB staff, unions,
prospective employees, and the public;
Liaise with Employee Services departments, Superintendents, Principals/Managers,
school/department support staff, unions, and other external organizations;
Implement and maintain business procedures for quality control purposes;
Assist with the implementation of arbitration awards and settlements;
Research data to support negotiations;
Liaise with Employee/Labour Relations department regarding researching background

information and data in preparation for grievances and arbitrations;
Assist other areas within Employee Services as required; and
Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Two year community college diploma in Business Administration-Human Resources including

courses in computers and communications with two years of progressively responsible related
experience handling a broad range of staffing and recruitment matters in a human resources
environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
Proven ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with staff at all levels and
with external organizations;***Proven ability to organize and co-ordinate a diverse number of projects within specified
timeframes;***Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills;*** Proven ability to accurately document information, prepare reports and summaries;*** Knowledge and understanding of related Board policies and procedures and collective

agreement provisions;*** Proven ability to work under pressure in order to meet frequent deadlines; and*** Ability to take initiative, work independently and maintain confidential information in a

circumspect manner.**
