Health & Fitness Coordinator (Full Time)

What qualifications are we looking for?

Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset

Minimum two years' administrative experience; minimum one-year supervisory experience

Interest/background in health and wellness


YMCA/AFLCA Group Fitness certification and teaching experience (minimum possession of Group Strength certification preferred or ability to obtain certification soon).

Additional Fitness certifications will be considered an asset.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook (experience with CLASS and Avanti is an asset)

Ability to work flexible hours including daytime, evenings and weekends as required to meet programming needs.

Current Standard First Aid (valid within two years of the certification date) and CPR Level C (valid within one year of the certification date)

Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?


Duties and Responsibilities include:
Carry out administrative tasks including but not limited to scheduling, payroll, hiring packages, filing, equipment and area inspections, maintaining certification records, collection of statistics and data entry

Instruct a variety of Group Fitness classes. This could range between 2-3 classes per day.

Ensure excellent quality member service by identifying the needs and wants of members and participants as priority and respond to their concerns in an effective, and timely manner

Effectively communicate in a variety of methods and settings

Assist with recruitment and orientation of volunteers, contract instructors and staff

Ensure adult programs and services run as scheduled, providing coverage for classes and weight floor shifts as needed

Take an active role in planning, promoting and facilitating YMCA initiatives and special events such as, Community Wellness Days, Y Survive, and other events

Duty Manager shifts as required

Community Engagement

Support the general manager of the branch in ensuring the YMCA has a positive presence in the local community

Fund Development

Participate in the Staff and Volunteer aspect of the Annual Campaign
