Post-Secondary Instructor, Early Childhood Education

Term of Employment:
April 10, 2023 to February 27, 2024


Rate of Pay:
$52.49 to $71.41 per hour


Location:
Henlow Camps and/or remotely, as required


Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm (30 hours/week)


The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Post-Secondary Instructor possess the necessary knowledge, passion for their industry, and interpersonal skills to ensure an exceptional educational experience for adult learners.

The ECE Post-Secondary Instructor will inspire and engage students through teaching relevant industry-specific content, using applicable learning methodologies and technologies, and fostering effective learning environments.

Students graduating from the program will be confident and knowledgeable in both technical and soft skills, allowing for personal and professional growth, and leading to success in their current or future careers.


As a role model for students, and as an ambassador for MITT, the ECE Instructor is committed to professionalism and leadership.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Instruction, Preparation, Planning

  • Instruct course using MITT curriculum; utilize appropriate and creative instructional methods, such as lectures and demonstrations to accommodate the learning styles of individual students; enhancing the student learning experience and ensuring engagement in learning activities;
- uses relevant technology to support instruction; including the use of MITT's Learning Management System and remote learning tools such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams
- continuously checks in with students to ensure they understand course material and are able to retain the information they learned;
- prepares course outlines, including course timetabling within the academic year, learning outcomes, and assessment and evaluations;
- prepares, administers, and evaluates assignments and assessments; provides marks and feedback to students on their assessment items in a timely manner to ensure they have time to learn and improve;
- plans lessons and classroom activities, consistently demonstrating preparedness for class;
- fosters accountability, teamwork, and collaboration in students, preparing activities that focus on both individual and group work;

  • Conduct research related to curriculum; continuously reviews curriculum to ensure its appropriateness and currency; works with MITT's Educational Developers, Program Manager, and Academic Coordinator to formalize curriculum changes.
  • Implement and adopts curricular changes, willingly adjusting course materials in order to meet Institutional needs.
  • Coordinate Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placements for students, preparing WIL materials, and conducting onsite visits to ensure students are meeting the needs of the placement company/organization. Creates alternative capstonetype WIL projects for students who do not meet the WIL requirements for a placement and in the case of an unforeseen occurrence that warrants students not frequent onsite placements.

  • Foster a positive and respectful classroom environment (both inclass and online), motivating students to behave in a professional manner while they accomplish their educational goals
  • Demonstrate approachability and a desire to help, encouraging trust and lines of communication with students:

- maintains professional boundaries with students as a mentor, leader, and manager;
- provides fair, supportive, and consistent feedback to students to assist them with accomplishing their educational goals;
