Job Summary
The Accounting Clerk role at The International Centre encompasses both payables and receivables accounting duties.

You are joining a small Accounting Team, where your focus is on the processing and administration of deposits, retail sales, receivables, and payables.

Your role interacts with a cross-section of internal departments (Sales, Events Management, Event Operations, and Food & Beverage Team Members) and external (customers, suppliers, and service providers) stakeholders.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the following is completed on a timely basis
  • Review all Point of Sale ztapes for the retail food and beverage sales ensuring accuracy as well as verifying all sales are accounted for
  • Prepare summary schedules by event by day for retail and banquet sales and post them into the accounting system
  • Print and ensure all POS terminals in use are accounted for daily
  • Review and post daily cash receipts into the accounting system and reconcile cash and credit card payments for daily batching
  • Review and post all deposits (wire transfers, EFTs, cheques, credit card, and cash receipts)
  • Ensure all assigned event/license agreements are processed accurately and on a timely basis, specifically, invoices relating to license/event agreements are billed under the agreements and follow up on payments
  • Prepare and send statements to clients for outstanding receivables and follow up on payments of outstanding balances
  • Perform credit checks for clients seeking credit based on references provided
  • Review thirdparty suppliers' reports for accuracy and reasonableness and record the same into the accounting system
  • Keep Excel spreadsheets updated for thirdparty suppliers' sales and commissions
  • Administer and process payable invoices
  • Assist with the preparation of cheques runs
  • Prepare visa payments and supporting schedules
  • Process online payments
  • Reconcile monthly supplier statements
  • Resolve billing issues with suppliers
  • Organize yearend files
  • Other projects as required.

Job Specifications and Qualifications

  • Minimum two (2) years experience in an accounting department within the hospitality industry (food & beverage, hotels, retail, events, etc.)
  • Completion of a diploma or certificate in business or accounting payable
  • Must possess excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word along with proficient computer, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience with Yardi Genesis and Ungerboeck software and/or similar property event management programs is a definite asset.
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Superior attention to detail

$48,000.00-$52,000.00 per year
