Position Title

Animation and Visual Effects Technician
Position Summary
The School of Arts and Education is currently seeking a fulltime Animation and Visual Effects Technician to join their team until June 30, 202
The Animation and Visual Effects Technician supports the technical aspects of the Animation and Visual Effects program. The focus of this position is on assisting students and faculty, inventory control, and equipment maintenance with a primary focus on the online cohort of students.
Position Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting Animation and Visual Effects (AVFX) class activities including practical work and ensure proper support for student learning
Helping AVFX students understand how to use software and pieces of technical equipment safely and effectively
Assisting faculty with technical aspects of project delivery and process demonstration
Assisting Animations and Visual Effects Technical Analyst to perform regular maintenance on all computer equipment and peripherals
Identifies, diagnoses, analyzes, troubleshoots, and resolves all technical hardware and software issues
Assisting in the receiving process of IT equipment

Required Qualifications

Completion of a 1year college certificate, one year University or equivalent.
At least two years' experience specifically with 2D and 3D animation software and hardware
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to explain complex processes and software
Working knowledge of the following programs: Photoshop, Maya, Nuke, Substance Painter, Mari and Houdini
Ability to work independently and a part of a team
Troubleshooting and problemsolving skills

Preferred Qualifications

Three (3) year undergraduate degree, three years of university or equivalency in Visual Art, Welding, Foundry, or Carpentry
Any technical certification would be an asset
Wacom/Dell input devices for animation purposes

Starting at $26.61 per hour
Benefits and Compensation Information
An additional 15% of the hourly rate in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits.
