What you'll be doing.
The Staff Ombuds Office provides a safe, trustworthy and readily accessible source of early assistance for employees at all levels, contingent workers, retirees, and former employees when they have a workplace concern at Scotiabank or want information about where to seek assistance related to their work at Scotiabank.
As a partner in the Raise A Concern process, the Staff Ombuds Office is one of a number of channels at Scotiabank through which individuals can seek advice and assistance with workplace issues including, but not limited to: interpersonal conflicts, perceived unfair treatment and harassment, disrespectful and unethical behaviours and misconduct.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Work with French and English speaking employees by listening and providing coaching and guidance about concerns related to Bank policies, procedures, practices and/or decisions
- Assist employees in developing options and resolving conflict
- Facilitate communication between employees and others (policy makers, HR, business lines, third party service providers, etc) on individual issues as required
- Participate in weekly case discussions, providing case analysis to identify and raise systemic issues, generate insights, ineffective and unfair policies or practices and major issues or emerging trends
- Track and report concerns raised relative to Bank projects and initiatives
- Promote awareness of the Staff Ombuds Office and the services it provides at every opportunity
- Facilitate presentations to employee groups
- Adhere to the Staff Ombuds Office Terms of Reference and Standards of practice
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We'd love to work with you if you have:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Human Resources, Psychology, Occupational Health Care, etc)
- High degree of fluency in English and French
- 5 to 7 years of experience in an HR or management role
- Certification in Alternative Dispute Resolution (such as Stitt, Feld, Handy) would be an asset
- CHRP or CHRL designation would be an asset
- Strong conflict and alternative dispute resolution skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills in MS Office products
