Reporting to the VP of HR/HSE/QAQC, the QHSE Advisor focuses on satisfying Katch Kan's internal and external needs regarding safety and compliance to ensure high standards are achieved and maintained in the workplace.

Applicants will be based in Edmonton but must be able and willing to travel to the USA as needed.


Role Accountabilities:

  • Safety Management System is accessible, clear, utilized, and enforced.
  • Lead and Attend Monthly and quarterly safety meetings, as well as setting new targets in conjunction with management based on quarterly performance and ISO meetings.
  • Demonstrate high commitment to professional ethical standards.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System and Quality Management System.

_Health, and Safety Accountabilities:
_


  • Develop and implement safety strategies to ensure an established culture that puts priority on the safety and security of people, property, and the environment.
  • Update safety practices and policies where required, identify, and schedule regular meetings to address concerns and communicate all safety information with leaders and employees.
  • Ensure reports and documents are accurate, uptodate, and assessable.
  • Input and update the ISNetwork, Complyworks, Veriforce, and the HSE registry and other thirdparty safety subscriptions accurately and timely.
  • Coordinate daily and monthly paperwork including safety meetings, Hazard IDs, Incident reports etc.
  • Ensure safety and emergency plans comply with government regulations.
  • Perform audits, tracking and documentation of corrective actions, training and coaching programs develop compliance.

Education & Experience:


  • High School Graduate with postsecondary education.
  • Auditing experience is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of both Canada & the USA both Federal and State/Provincial safety legislation
  • 5 to 7 years of prior experience in Canada, secondary experience in USA

Pre-Employment Requirements:


  • Drug and alcohol screening, Criminal record check
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean MVR/Driver abstract

Special Conditions of Employment:


  • Travel is a requirement of this position
  • A valid Driver's License, and Clean Drivers Abstract is a requirement of this position.
  • Must have a valid passport.
  • Must be willing and able to travel to and within the USA.
  • As a condition of employment, you must be able to pass a Drug & Alcohol test. Some substances that may be utilized as treatments or consumed directly or indirectly recreationally may be flagged.


Below are examples of substances, usage, and effects: 6AM (Heroin), Alcohol, Amphetamines & MDA-Analogues, Barbiturates & Benzodiazepines (Depressants/Sedation), Cannabinoids (THC/Marijuana, CBD/Pain Relief), Cocaine (Stimulant), Opioids, Propoxyphene, Methadone (Pain Relief), OXYC/OXYM (Severe Pain), Methaqualone (hypnotic/sleep), Phencyclidine (Mind Altering).

Depending on usage, these substances can remain in your blood, urine, breath, and saliva, ranging from 5 hours to 6 weeks.
