_Our Oncology and Endoscopy program at Unity Health Toronto provides a comprehensive range of surgical and cancer care services across both the St.

Michael's and St. Joseph sites.

The Clinical Educator with specialty in Surgery, Oncology and GI/Endoscopy improves patient care by:

  • Being a content expert
  • Identifying clinical practice learning needs
  • Designing, implementing and evaluating quality improvement, practice initiatives, and educational programs to improve patient outcomes and meet staff needs
  • Leading interprofessional staff with clinical decision making and in providing an exceptional care to patients, with optimal patient outcomes
  • Demonstrating a strong understanding of endoscopy/surgical recovery and/or cancer care principles and supporting staff to incorporate this philosophy into practice.
  • Develop and implement processes that ensure evidencebased practice.
  • Promote and model an environment that fosters continuous learning and professional practice for program staff.
  • Supporting nursing and interprofessional orientation and other corporate initiatives

Clinical Educator:
clinical expertise, change leadership, project management, education and coaching, and self-assessment and development.

We are looking for an experienced clinician with advanced knowledge and skills who enjoys a high paced environment and can move the program forward from a professional practice and educational perspective.

We are also looking for someone who is flexible with scheduling.


Qualifications:


  • Baccalaureate Degree in nursing required.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing, or Masters' degree in a relevant field (e.g. Health Administration, Education, Quality Improvement, clinical specialty), or currently enrolled with anticipated completion in two (2) years.
  • Current Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario and member in good standing.
  • Minimum of 35 years recent experience in Endoscopy/Surgery and/or Oncology care, including demonstrated knowledge of current best practices.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Standardized Provincial Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Administration Certification is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Cancer Care Ontario's strategic directions is an asset.
  • Canadian Nursing Association (CNA) Certificate in Oncology or Medical-Surgical Nursing is an asset.
  • Demonstrated competence in the design, delivery and evaluation of innovative educational programs for staff in a health care environment. Demonstrated competence in adult education.
  • A track record of ensuring evidence based research, and evolving recognized standards are used to guide practice changes.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a system to validate learning, and ensure that practice changes are measured, sustained and improve outcomes.
  • Strong commitment to lifelong learning and professional development.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and project management with an ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to establish positive relationships with all staff, physicians, learners and community partners is required.
  • Proven strong critical thinking and problemsolving skills.
  • Membership in a relevant professional organization (i.e. RNAO) is an asset.
  • Satisfactory attendance record.
