Fiber Optic Technician


As a Fiber Optics Technician at Paladin technologies, you will play a vital role in the installation, testing, and maintenance of fiber optic systems.

You will be responsible for ensuring the successful deployment of fiber optic cables and components, optimizing network performance, and troubleshooting issues as they arise.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install and service cabling infrastructure (Copper and Fiber) including prewiring, installation, termination, labelling, and testing. In accordance with industry standards and project specifications.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing and analysis of fiber optic networks to ensure optimal performance, low loss, and mínimal latency.
  • Collaborate with project teams to plan and execute fiber optic network installations, upgrades, and expansions.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues related to fiber optic systems, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network installations, test results, and configurations.
  • Ability to prep all types of fiber optic cables. Indoor and Outdoor
  • Familiarity with various splice enclosures, how to operate them.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and best practices to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Install network racks and cabinets in server rooms.
  • Interact with customers and prospects, ensuring all inquiries are handled professionally.
  • Adhere to Paladin's Quality and Safety programs.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience installing fiber and copper cabling in heavy industrial environments.
  • Proficient in operating, maintaining, and setting up fusion splicing machines including ribbon splicers.
  • Postsecondary education in electrical, telecommunications, electronics, CFOT or equivalent is considered an asset.
  • Comfortable working at heights
  • Must be able to lift upwards of 50 pounds.
  • Valid Driver's License with clean abstract and no restrictions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with keen attention to detail
  • Must be bondable and able to pass a background check.
  • Strong problemsolving skills
